2. Where can I buy Heritage Products?
Heritage products are only supplied through its network of authorised dealers (supplied
by Heritage Regional Distribution Centres) who are, in the main, independent retail
specialists who have Heritage products on display. For details of your nearest stockist,
lease use our 'Store Locator' or contact your local Heritage Distribution Centre.
3. Can I buy on-line or Direct From Heritage?
Heritage is not able to supply products direct to the end-consumer neither via the
Internet nor from its Distribution Centres. See ' Where can I buy Heritage products?'
If you require spare parts for any Heritage product your first port of call should be the
retail organisation, which supplied the products to you. They will be able to obtain the
items you require from Heritage. If you do not know who supplied your bathroom,
please speak to Customer
Services.
The UK Heritage Collection Brochure is fully priced in £sterling including VAT. To request
your free copy, please fill in our simple Order Brochure form and one will be sent out as
soon as possible.
This service is not available from Heritage Bathrooms. Your retailer will be able to
recommend a local fitter.

Acrylic Baths
The minimum and maximum height for Heritage Acrylic Baths is determined by the bath
panels. You can fix your panel and plinth between 460mm and 575mm.
Original acrylic sheet thicknesses are commonly quoted as 8mm or 5mm. Heritage manufacturing uses gentle production techniques along with reinforced baseboards
and fibreglass to ensure the baths are safe and secure but still allow for the creation
of delicate and detailed designs.
Heritage supply Bath Grips which should be fitted to your Heritage bath at the time of
bath installation. Please note that Heritage do not supply baths with Bath Grips already
fitted.
You will need to construct a simple wooden framework with upright struts under the outside edge and at each corner of your bath.
Use magnetic catches on the back of the panel and on the framework as this will create
an invisible fixing method which can still give you easy access to the plumbing should a
problem occur.

Taps
& Mixers
1. Why do my Taps make a Banging Noise when they're turned on?
Water Hammer is the result of high water pressure causing vibration on the pipes and
can be reduced by the installation of a pressure reducing valve. Be sure to check that
your pipes aren't loose as this may also be a cause.
This depends on the tap range you choose, but is typically a minimum of 0.1 bar (1 metre head) for a screw-down (rubber washer) tap valve and 0.3 bar (3 metre head) for ceramic
disc valves, although the Ravoque range will need higher pressure. It's best to seek
professional advice before making your purchase. See the Taps & Mixers section of the website/brochure for more details.
3. How do I stop my Taps from Dripping?
Standard tap valves can start to leak should the rubber washer become worn. This can
be easily sorted out by replacing the washer.
If the taps are ceramic disc, then the entire valve will need replacing.
One of the typical characteristics of manufacturing 'traditional' cast taps is that the inside
of the spout will be rough, rather than finished. This means that when you turn off the
tap, a small reservoir of water is left inside the spout, which will slowly "find its way"
through the contours of the cast before dropping into the basin. This can take a
"short while", but is perfectly normal.
4. What Should I use to Clean my Taps?
All brassware should be cleaned with warm soapy water and buffed up to shine with a
soft dry cloth. Avoid using any abrasive or acidic cleaners as this may damage the
product. Regular cleaning after use will keep your taps looking good.

Cast Iron Baths
1. How do I Paint my Cast Iron Bath?
The outside of your cast iron bath is black and rough to begin with, but can have a smart and elegant appearance with a bit of preparation sand the outside to make it smooth and then use either an oil-based primer followed by the emulsion colour of your choice, or an
oil-based paint on its own. Provided that the first coat is oil-based, your bath should not
show signs of aging (rusty colouration) through the paint and will have a durable surface
to which paint can safely adhere. You should do the same for the unpainted cast iron feet. Please note that Heritage does not provide a bath painting service.
The key to getting a good fit here is to not over-tighten the feet. First, turn the bath upside down (you'll need some help to do this, the bath is extremely heavy!) and attach the feet
by matching up the letter on the feet to the corresponding lug on the bath. Tighten the
nut and bolt by hand and then turn the bath the right way up. Push down on the bath
and shake it gently to help it find its own level and once you're happy it is level, tighten
the nuts fully using an adjustable spanner. Don't worry if there's a small gap between
the bath and the top of the feet - if you try and tighten it any more and bring the two together, you may end up making your bath wobbly.
There are several inherent characteristics to the traditional production process of manufacturing cast iron baths and these are ripples, dimples and tiny black specs in
the enamel surface. These features are quite normal and will not affect the life of the
bath - they are just part of what makes a cast iron bath a cast iron bath!

Furniture
Firstly you need to obtain the correct fixings for the type of wall - Heritage do not supply fixings with any furniture unit - and simply screw through the back of the unit.
We suggest that you drill any holes in line with the shelf studs so that when the shelves
are in place, all your fixings are hidden from view.
All the hinges on Heritage cabinets are fully adjustable to allow for any minor
discrepancies.
Doors and drawers on all the Heritage furniture units are semi-drilled to allow you to fit
our choice of handle - either 'traditional', in chrome or gold, or 'contemporary' in chrome,
or 'deco' in chrome. Single door cabinets are supplied with the door loose so that you
can easily decide which way you want it to open. Please make sure you specify the type
and finish you require at the time of ordering.
Heritage do not recommend any particular furniture cleaner although normal domestic products designed for real wood furniture are best. In order to keep your furniture
looking good we suggest that you clean up any water splashes as soon as they occur.
Lifestyle™ finishes are artificially produced foils applied to MDF and are naturally durable, water resistant, easy to maintain with a consistent look whether they are a solid colour
or faux wood grain. We recommend you choose a Lifestyle finish to withstand the
everyday use of a busy household. Realwood™ finishes use natural real wood.
The door frame and scoop of a vanity unit, for instance, is made from solid timber, the door
infill and worktops made from a real wood veneer (a thin layer of real wood) bonded onto
MDF or chipboard. The carcass for the Compact Realwood Oak is a matching melamine
faced chipboard and veneered chipboard for the Shaker Oak Fresso and New Heritage
Traditional ranges.
Heritage furniture is sourced from forests that are managed to ensure long term timber
supplies while protecting the environment and the lives of forest-dependent peoples.
Heritage WC seats are made from heavy gauge timber with dowels running through
them to strengthen the construction further and are stabilised even more by a 'bar' hinge.
All the 'Compact' shelves are supplied with insertion bolts onto which the shelf is fixed
once the bolts are attached to either the wall or the unit (in the case of the 'Compact'
Shelf Pack). The sides of the 'Compact' Vanity and WC Units are semi-drilled to facilitate
fixing the bolts.
Water can penetrate and subsequently damage any wooden surface so we strongly
recommend that any water splashes are quickly wiped away with a soft cloth.

Heated Towel Rails
1. What Valves do I Need with Heritage Heated Towel Rails?
All Heated Towel Rails in the 'traditional' range from Heritage are supplied with Ornate
Heated Towel Rail valves free-of-charge, although they are also available to buy
separately should you want to do so. Please note that the rails are not available to buy
without the valves at a reduced price. Use Orbit or Lever Vavles for the Vinca, Vinca
Mirror, Aster, Contour and Plateau rails - please see Technical Information or see the
Heated
Towel Rail section of the website/brochure for more details.
Heritage Heated Towel Rails can be installed into most domestic heating systems but
when doing so you should provide for suitable isolation in case a problem develops.
If you are installing your Heated Rail onto an open circuit, where new water is added
to the circulation, you are advised to refer to your local Water Authority to ensure that
dezincification (where the mineral content of the water attacks the inside of the rail)
is not a common occurrence.
BTU stands for British Thermal Units and is measured per hour, hence Btu/hr. In easy
terms, the higher the number, the more heat the rail will produce. If you have a large
bathroom and you want to heat the room as well as your towels, then you should go
for a rail with a high Btu/hr rating.

Sanitaryware
Recent changes in the UK Water Regulations has meant that cistern fittings can be either the conventional 'external' overflow, where the pipe comes from the cistern and out
through the external wall, or a more European style of 'internal' overflow, where overflow
water flows back into the pan. All cistern fittings supplied by Heritage Bathrooms include
all the elements you need to enable you to install either system, except for the
Belmonte Corner Cistern, which is internal overflow only.
If you feel that your new pan doesn't seem to flush as well as the one you had before, it may be down a reduced water volume. Recent changes in UK Water Regulations has seen
the maximum volume of water allowed in the cistern decrease over the last few years from
a whopping 9 litres before 1997 to 7.5 litres, then down to 6 litres in 2001 and then more
recently down to 4 litres. With less water to flush, you may find that waste and paper
doesn't disappear quite as fast as it did.
Rest assured however -all Heritage WCs have been redesigned in line with these changes
to make sure that they effectively flush away waste and paper with the minimum water volume of 4 litres.
To ensure a satisfactory and effective flush your soil pipe should drop 2cm for every
metre length.
4. There's a Small Gap Between my Basin and the Vanity Unit - is this Normal?
The situation where vitreous china meets wood is a common bathroom situation and
one, which your plumber/fitter will be aware of. It is impossible with such a non-machine
produced item to achieve the straight edges that can be achieved in wood, and so you
will need to use sealant to bring the two surfaces together and ensure a stable fit.

Shower Enclosures
The wall-side of the enclosure framework has an adjustable profile to allow you to counteract the effects of 'out of true' walls. In basic terms each wall side of our
enclosure profile has a generous 19mm adjustment. See Shower
Enclosures in the
Directory section of the website/brochure.
2. Can I Turn the Shower Door to open the Other Way?
Yes - all the doors are reversible with the Heritage brand logo clearly visible whichever
way you hang the door. However, it is important to note that the pivot point ('hinges')
of the door must always be closest to the wall in a two-sided enclosure. See Shower
Enclosures in the Directory section of the website/brochure.
Yes we do, and each one comes complete with its own waste fittings. See the
Shower
Enclosures in the Directory section of this website/brochure.
Yes - the glass used for Heritage shower doors, screens and panels is 6mm safety
glass (infold doors use 4mm safety glass) and conforms to BS6206.
6. Yes, you do. You can select a 'traditional', or a 'contemporary' handle, and they are
both in Chrome.

Shower Valves
Yes - Heritage shower valves are compatible with most water and heating systems.
We recommend that you discuss your own system with a reputable plumber to
ascertain whether you require any additional work to be done, such as fitting flow
restrictors or pumps.
2. What if my Cold Water Fails When I'm in the Shower?
Each of the shower valves in the Heritage range incorporate a safety shutdown to
prevent scalding if the cold water fails.
There are two different 'kits' you can use for all of the 'traditional' shower valves in the Heritage range, i.e. the Heritage, Heritage Deluxe and Winchester valves - a 'fixed kit'
which consists of a rigid riser bar and shower rose or a 'flexible kit' which is a flexible
hose and shower handset on an adjustable-height slide rail. See Heritage Shower Valves
in the directory section of the website/brochure.
